The New Classic.

The Shorter Tee & The Longer Tee were born out of a navy & burgundy striped t-shirt I took from my parents' closet that became my favorite because it fit better than the rest. From this holy & holey t-shirt, the Shorter & Longer Tees got their box-cut shirt body & diagonal side seams. I turned them white & added a custom hybrid collar to these tees for you & me to wear new holes into.

The Shorter Tee

  • Short Sleeves. Our short sleeves are wide enough not to cling to the upper arm.
  • Slightly cropped hem. At 6 cm shorter than The Longer Tee, The Shorter Tee hits just below waistband of pants/bottoms like children's shirts often do.
  • Box cut. Its proportions & crisp, diagonal seams create a truly androgynous silhouette - one that's both flowing & square to flatter men's & women's bodies.
  • Flattened & separated collar band. Its rounded edges & 7 cm spread recall athletic jerseys, mandarin collars & crew-necklines.
  • A flattering neckline. The neckline exposes the top of the collarbone, but reads with the modesty & simplicity of a crew neck.
  • Diagonal side seams. Seams are displaced 11.5 cm to the right to mimic the subtle, graceful draping found in the striped tee that inspired this one.
  • Double top-stitched hems for a cleaner finish & the intimation of a stripe.
  • Custom grading. We use standard grading for sizes i, ii & iii, iv, but add significant shirt length between sizes ii & iii to accommodate a longer male torso.
  • 50% Supima® cotton, 50% MicroModal®for a soft, heavyweight feel.

Sizes: i, ii, iii, iv.

We make our unisex shirts to our fit specifications. We like an oversized women's shirt & a fitted man's shirt, and that means that our sizing can be a departure from the industry standard, so we've dropped the XS-XL notation in favor of roman numerals.

Our Suggestions for Women.

i : S/M - ii : M/L - iii : L/XL - iv: XL

Our Suggestions for Men.

 iii : S/M - iv : M/L

$40

Costs $8/shirt to produce. For The Shorter Tee we use a 5x markup. As a new brand, we cannot yet reduce our margins by as much as we intend to, but we are able to charge well-below the industry standard of 8x by foregoing traditional retail avenues & selling direct to consumers through our website.

The Longer Tee

  • 2/3 length sleeves. Wide sleeves hit just below elbow to elongate forearms.
  • Extended hem. The Longer Tee has 6 cm on The Shorter Tee to balance the proportions of its sleeves. On women, this shirt works well for tucking.
  • Box Cut. Its proportions & crisp, diagonal seams create a truly androgynous silhouette - one that's both flowing & square to flatter men's & women's bodies.
  • Flattened & separated collar band. Its rounded edges & 7 cm spread recall athletic jerseys, mandarin collars & crew-necklines.

Fabric & Construction

The Short & Long Side Tees are made by Pacific Continental Clothing in Los Angeles, CA. Our shirts are 100% American made. We make our shirts in small batches to reduce waste & overhead. These choices also account for higher production costs.

The Shorter & Longer Tees shirts are made of Supima®/MicroModal® blend which costs up to 100% more to produce than mid-quality cotton blends. This blend is distinguished by its superior feel & durability. Supima® is an extra-long staple, USA grown variety of Pima cotton. Pima cotton used to be called American-Egyptian cotton for its similarly long fibers, but was renamed to pay tribute to the Pima people of Arizona & the cotton they grew.

MicroModal® is a knit fabric made of the finest, light weight cellulose fibers. It is similar to cotton, but is shrink & fade resistant. It's often the fabric of choice for underwear because of its luxe feel. It is impossible for mineral deposits to infiltrate the fabric, meaning that even after many washes, it will not stiffen or develop the mineral crust that cotton does, and its high wet strength allows for it to be safely machine-washed. Among the textile industry's greatest tolls on the environment is the care that goes into cleaning & tending to a fabric. With MicroModal®, fabric softeners, bleach & dry cleaning are all unnecessary due to the fabric's inherent softness, high colorfastness & high wet strength.

MicroModal® is a biodegradable fiber & is considered exceptionally eco-friendly as it's made from cellulose fibers harvested from beech trees, a highly renewable source. It is produced through a closed-loop process that releases commonly used byproducts such as xylose, acetic acid & sodium sulphate. The byproducts are then recycled or sold & used elsewhere. The fibers are bleached using environmentally sound processes. MicroModal® fibers do not qualify as organic because the are regenerated.
